Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated® Alpha Xi Omega Chapter
Purpose
The Encounters Youth Group is an educational and community service-oriented youth group sponsored by the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
Established in 1961, the Encounters Youth Group is responsible for planning and promoting wholesome activities for the growth, leadership and development of junior and senior high school-aged girls ranging from grades 7th through 12th, attending various middle and high schools throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Program Emphasis
It is important to highlight and engage in programs and activities that are not only mission-based and purpose-driven, but those that also facilitate self-awareness and community-awareness, outreach and service. The Encounters Youth Group annual program emphasis is based on five identified focal points, or what are referred to as the youth group’s spotlight areas.
Membership
